Fourteen years.

Almost fourteen years ago, at the end of our junior year in high school, I met a woman who was a 'friend of a friend'. From the stories I had heard, I knew that she was kind of a crummy friend. I knew we were both going to Girls' State that summer from our school, but I was certain that I would not be speaking to her while there because I had already decided that I did not like her. So, I tried my best to be as polite as I could while she talked about senior parking spots and Girls' State, but I was barely listening to the woman who would eventually be the godmother of my children. At that moment, I of course had no idea that she would forever change my life, and that within a few short months, we would be very, very, best friends. Today, I affectionately refer to her as 'My Woman', and while we live entirely too far apart, one day soon we hope to be business partners and had better be living in the same town! For now, we endure the distance, frequently make our husbands miserable while we lament the distance, dream of the amazing wedding we will plan when my daughter and her son marry each other (they that were born six days apart!) and rarely a day goes by that we do not text, email or talk and usually its all three! Last week we spent a gorgeous afternoon together while I photographed her and her beautiful family. I love you, Woman! I hope you enjoy this sneak peek!
